What is skilled nursing care?

As you begin your research into long-term care options, you will hear the term skilled nursing care. Skilled nursing care refers to a patient’s need for medical care or treatment that can only be provided by a licensed nurse or other licensed healthcare professional. This type of care is typically offered through a home healthcare agency, assisted living community with an on-staff nurse, or at a skilled nursing facility with 24/7 nursing care.

When is Skilled Nursing Care Needed?

Skilled nursing care involves trained professionals administering care services due to injury or illness; these can include:
